The reskinning game has changed.
In fact, it looks like a lot of developers have stopped making apps altogether.
There are a number of reasons for this:
1000 new apps appear in the App Store every day.
Some old monetization tactics (e.g. interstitial ads at startup) and app business models (e.g., quantity over quality) aren’t viable anymore.
Beautiful design is KING.
Apple may reject unattractive reskins.
Trends and tastes have changed.
What does this mean for app developers who are still in the game?
Well, for starters, I’d say it means don’t spend hundreds of dev hours and thousands of dollars until you’ve validated a market. It’s better to first publish a simple app to gain traction. You can iterate later, adding features and increasing the app’s value.

The short answer to this question is there is no short answer. You can reskin a code as many times as you like, but fewer reskins—like fewer black eyes—may improve the appearance of your portfolio.
Apple has established no clear precedent, and in typical Apple fashion, when they do flag an account, they aren’t necessarily forthcoming with all of the factors in their decision. This smoke-and-mirrors approach to what is “permissible” makes it difficult to say with certainty, “You’re safe if you stand there, but stepping over this line will get you into trouble.”
When I first saw the title of this article, I had to read it: “ 7,000 app developers in 127 countries say e-commerce is now the best mobile monetization strategy .” Though my first attempt at mobile e-commerce had been a bust, it was time to develop an ecommerce app source code.
That Time When 5430 Clicks Earned Me $0
Back in the summer of 2012, I found a clever way to integrate an affiliate link for a mustache tie clip. Anytime a user added the tie clip mage to a photo, an icon with three dollar signs—$$$—popped up in the upper righthand corner of the screen.
In college I knew a couple of compulsive liars. One days, I had a conversation with one of them, who I will call “Matt.” It went something like this:
Austin: “What have you been up to?”
Matt: “Did I tell you that I’ve been doing grad work at the University of Colorado Boulder?”
Austin: “No.”
Matt: “Yeah, well, they’re paying to fly me out there every week.”
The last time I had checked, I wasn’t an idiot. And a little birdie had told me that Matt hadn’t even finished his Bachelor’s. Though his latest fabrication had more holes than a sponge, it was an tiny fib compared to the spectacle he made by showing up at our weekly Texas Hold ‘Em game, carrying a samurai sword.
